10 questions with … Mason Andersen
April 4, 2024
Mason Andersen is a rising star on the Korn Ferry Tour who has enjoyed a superb start to 2024.
The 25-year-old tops the Tour’s Points List and has also qualified for The 152nd Open thanks to a stunning comeback victory at the 117 Visa Argentina Open presented by Macro, in February, where he trailed by six heading into the final round but then shot 63 before beating Kris Ventura in a play-off.
Ahead of this week’s Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club in Savannah, Georgia, Andersen answered 10 questions for OneClub.Golf.
How special was your win in Argentina, particularly with your dad and girlfriend out there with you?
“That was pretty cool. I think just the fact that I’ve actually put myself in a position to win a tournament quite a bit in the two years that I’ve been out here, so it was nice to get it done and even more special with family there.”
How did you manage to come back from so far behind in the final round?
“I think sometimes when your back’s up against the wall it’s pretty easy to just play aggressive and kind of let it all hang out. Now most of the time it doesn’t really work out that way, but it just so happened to work in my favour there.”
Were you thinking about earning a spot in The Open when the play-off started?
“Obviously The Open is a huge deal and I’m thrilled to be a part of that, but I think in the moment all I wanted to do was win the tournament and deal with the task at hand. I got fortunate enough to get into a play-off and then I took it from there.”
